Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
