Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can expect learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
